FIREWORK SUSPECTED OF SPARKING SEA SEARCH ALONG DONEGAL COASTLINE

A red flare spotted over Donegal Bay last night sparked a launch of the emergency services.

Bundoran RNLI responded to the call

The flare was spotted by a member of the public between St John’s Point and Ballyshannon.

Malin Head Radio coastguard were alerted and they contacted Bundoran RNLI.

A major coastline search was carried out along the coastline to determine if any vessels were in trouble just after 10pm.

However, information was then received that fireworks had ben let off in the area earlier.

The search continued for a short while before it was stood down when all searches proved negative.
