GOLF NEWS: MICHAEL BRADLEY JNR WINS THE PRESIDENTS PRIZE AT ROSAPENNA

GOLF LOGOPresidents Prize at Rosapenna

Mr John Sweeney’s Presidents Prize took place on Saturday the 6th over the Old Tom Morris Links.

There was a large turnout on the day and the winner with a fine score of 41pts was Michael Bradley Jnr (11). The runner up was Seimi Connor (5) with 40pts.

The gross winner was Enda Kennedy (+1) with 30 gross pts.

Third place was Eddie McGinley (15) with 38pts bot.

The front nine winner was Paul Travers (15) with 20pts and the back nine winner was Michael Bradley (5) with 21pts.

The visitor section was won by Donal Callaghan from Portsalon with 40pts.

The Senior section was won by Jim Gallagher (16) with 31pts.

Two’s – Denis McBride, Damien O’Connell, Tommy Ferguson, Liam Breen, Michael Bradley, Seimi Connor, Michael Bradley Jnr & David Forbes €13.50 each credit in The Pavilion Golf Shop.

The 2014 Golfer of the Year table is now as follows –

1.Charlie McBride 23pts

2.Michael Bradley 22pts

3.Frank Casey Jnr 20pts

4.Paul Travers 19pts

5.Eddie McGinley 18pts

6.Pat Boyce 17pts

7.Mark Lenny 17pts

8.Sean Boyce 15pts

A full table is on display on the notice board in the members area outside the Pavilion Golf Shop.

The remaining Golfer of the Year events –

•Sunday 5th October,

•Saturday 25th October (Seiko) &

•Sunday 23rd November (Christmas Hamper).

Please note these may be subject to change.

The club competition on Sunday the 7th of September was sponsored by The Singing Pub, Atlantic Drive.

The winner with 38 pts was Danny Sweeney (18).

Commiserations to the Rosapenna Mixed Foursomes team who were beaten by Waterford Castle in the All Ireland semi final at Warrenpoint G.C last Thursday the 4th.

The tie was indeed very tight with Waterford winning 3-2 to reach their first All Ireland Mixed final where they would meet Castlecomer G.C who had accounted for Portumna.

In the final on Friday the tie was set 2-2  and Waterford Castle would win the last match 3&2 to lift their first green pennant in the Irish Mixed Foursomes.

Many thanks to all the Rosapenna players for their dedication and  commitment to the team all summer long and congratulations on winning the Ulster title for the second time in three years.

A special thank you to the team captains Bernadette North & Peter Smyth for their tireless effort and organisation, they have captained the team over the past three years and have done so to the highest standard.

The Rosapenna Over 50’s team traveled to Ballyliffin last Sunday and were unable to overturn the 3-2 result from the home leg.

Many thanks to the panel that played for the team in all legs and to the team captain Mark Bradley for his leadership this season.

There will be a club competition on Sunday the 14th (St Andrews Cup), 21st (G.o.Y) & the 28th (Starters Cup) over the Old Tom Morris Links

The Mulroy Links outings for 2014/15 have been scheduled as follows –

•Sat 11th October – Portsalon

•Sat 18th October – Rosapenna

•Sat 8th November – Portsalon

•Sat 22nd November – Rosapenna

•Sat 13th December – Rosapenna

•Sat 14th February – Portsalon

•Sat 28th February – Rosapenna

•Sat 14th March – Rosapenna

•Sat 28th March – Portsalon

•Sat 18th April – Portsalon Captains Day

All tee times for the first outing will be taken by the Golf Shop at Portsalon on 074-91-59459.

The timesheet for the second outing will be available on the day of the first outing.

Save the date – Rosapenna G.C Dinner Dance,

Saturday the 1st of November 2014.

The Friday nine hole stroke competition is now finished for the season.

Any uncollected prizes from the recent presentation
 are available for collection from the Pavilion Golf Shop and should be collected as soon as possible.
