GOLF LOGODunfanaghy Golf Club Notes:

Again this week there was great sunshine with tropical weather all week in Dunfanaghy. The Jazz ‘n’ Blues festival was on in Dunfanaghy over the weekend with large crowds around the town.

Well done to Donald and Sian and all the organisers for a great festival.

The golf club had big turnouts on each of the days over the weekend and the scoring was very good in the 4BBB (any combination) competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

Well done to everyone. Our chef was extremely busy all weekend with plenty of people coming out of the town for food.

Word is spreading about the great food on offer in the clubhouse.

The club is doing a great special for the All-Ireland final this Sunday coming.

You can have a Steak dinner and a pint of your choice for €15.

What better way to spend the final by soaking up the atmosphere in the clubhouse with great food.

Keep it in mind if you are not travelling to Croke Park. We wish Colm, Christy and Martin the best of luck.

You have done us proud so far and hopefully you are able to finish the job off. Up Donegal!!!!!

Sat 13th Sept 4BBB

Competitions this coming week:

The competitions are as follows:

• Saturday 20th September 4BBB Stableford any combination

• Sunday 21st September monthly Medal

The past Captains is not on this coming weekend and hopefully everyone has been informed of this by post. It will now take place on the 4th of October.

It is getting close to the biggest weekend of the year in the club and everything is in place for a great weekend.

The time slots are already filling up for the Ryder cup Weekend, so don’t miss you opportunity to be part of a great weekend of festivities at the club.

There are still time slots available for the morning and afternoon of Saturday and also the three ball scramble on the Sunday.

We are advertising these competitions in neighbouring golf clubs this week so make sure you get your name down quickly.

A full detail of the activities at the club will be posted on our website over the coming week.

New Year’s Eve At The Clubhouse

We are pleased to announce that the very enjoyable New Year’s Eve Party held at the Clubhouse last year is again being organised.

The Band, which by all accounts, “made the party” have again been booked. Food, although yet to be arranged, will be along the same lines as last year.

The cost will again be €30 per person and numbers will be strictly limited to sixty people on a “first come” basis.

No tickets will be issued, and bookings can only be confirmed on receipt of full payment.

Mary will be in charge of all bookings and as this will sell out very quickly I would advise those interested to contact her immediately and pay by card over the phone.

As this is not priced as a fund raising exercise there will be no refund for those having booked but unable to attend.

If however, you are unable to attend please contact Mary and you will be put in touch with someone on the waiting list willing to buy your ticket.

Juvenile notes;

Two brothers battled it out in the weekly Juvenile competition last Saturday.

Carlos O Reilly holed a great putt on the last hole to take victory from his brother Edward by one shot.

In the Cadet section it took a play-off to decide the winner with Andy Ward just getting the better of Cormac Hall.

Shot of the day went to Andy Ward for a great pitch to the 16th hole.
