Masters teams success at Donegal CC Championships

Magheragallon, in Gweedore was an excellent venue on Sunday last for the opening Cross Country event of the season

Tir Chonaill women masters were delighted with their 3rd place team finish -Scorers were Marie Rooney 10th, Margaret Sweeney 12th , Edwina Sweeney 21st , Jackie Harvey 24th, Brona McGonagle,29th and Rosemary Dewhurst 31st.

Following on from an excellent ‘coast to coast’ 10k victory the previous week, Paul Ward led the Mens team a fighting 3rd place finish, Ivan Tonner, Letterkenny, getting the verdict for the place in the last few strides behind winner Pauric McKinney, Innishowen AC.

The support team of Richard McCarthy 29th, Ollie Thomas 33rd, Donal Haughey 36th, John Cannon 38th and Hugh McNulty 45th guaranteed a 4th place team finish

U16 Girls success

Congrats to the clubs U16 Girls Cross country team on a fine team performance at the Donegal c/ships last Sunday in Gweedore where they finished 1st Donegal team and 2nd overall to a very good Omagh Harriers squad.Emily Mc Gill led the group home with an outstanding 3rd place finish and was supported by Niamh Boyle 7th, Abby Boyle, 16th and Kerry O’Loughlan 18th

Philomena Gallagher

Congrats to Philomena Gallagher who had a fine run on Sunday where she won her catagory in the Grange 10K.

Next week

The 2nd round of the Donegal CC c/ships takes place at Castlefinn with uneven age group and Novice down for decision.

Good luck to all club athletes competing.

A large number of club athletes are putting the final training touches together for the Dublin Marathon -we wish this group well during the next two weeks and in the big challenge in Dublin

Coaching Courses

A number of club coaches -some new and some established will up skill by attending Leader, and Level 1 courses during the next few weeks –details from David Doherty 086 8011540 or Eamon Harvey 0872797548

Club meeting – members are invited to the monthly club meeting on Monday night next -in the Abbey Hoel Donegal Town -time 8pm
