One of the “A” rated energy efficient new houses at Rann Mor Meadow, Letterkenny.

An innovative and exciting new building project, of ‘A’ rated energy efficient homes is well-underway in Letterkenny and is the first of its kind in the town.

The wonderfully designed modern homes have unsurprisingly attracted a significant amount of interest from potential homeowners.

It’s been well documented over the last number of months that the property market is making a significant recovery in Ireland for the first time since the collapse of the economy.

However, there are suggestions that while the property market is certainly on the road to recovery in Dublin, there’s been little activity outside of the capital.

But that belief is being disregarded with the exciting and innovative new project at Rann Mor Meadow in Letterkenny well underway.

The project is also giving the local construction industry in the county and the local economy in general a huge lift.

The location of Rann Mor Meadow is fantastic, it’s located just off the Rahan Road, and is only a few minutes drive from Letterkenny.

The homes are located on an elevated site that provide absolutely wonderful views of Letterkenny.

GDC (Ireland) Limited are building the 59 modern homes, that incorporate a whole range of energy efficient features that really make them stand out.

GDC (Ireland) has established a stellar reputation over the years for their excellence in building quality homes and consistently setting new standards and thoroughly completing their development.

They’ve shown great initiative and fortitude to design these wonderful new homes against a backdrop of one of most difficult periods in the construction industry in Ireland.

Managing Director Daniel Doherty also added, that there are very few of this standard and specification of houses anywhere in the country.

Daniel told Donegal Daily, “Phase one of the homes is currently under construction, they include solar panels, triple glazed windows, extra thick cavity block walls with added insulation, supreme air tightness, and heating control zones.

“With combined condensing oil fired central heating, and a solid fuel back boiler stove linked to the central heating system, this all leads to huge savings in energy costs over the lifetime of these houses, he added.

These innovative and exciting new houses will undoubtedly raise the bar when it comes to energy efficient homes in Donegal. This is now what people want and expect and we are here to give it to them.

The project also signifies that there is real signs of the economy picking up again, and any increase in activity in the construction sector has a real spin-off for the local economy.

“House prices have plummeted since the Celtic Tiger days, but there is now a growing realisation that this is a very good time to buy with considerable value in the marketplace.

“Three bedroom semi-detached “A” rated BER energy efficient houses at Rann Mor Meadow are available at just €122,500 in phase 1, he concluded.

Such is the quality and innovation of the Rann Mor Meadow development, that at a starting price of €122,500, it’s little wonder that these homes are already attracting such a huge interest among potential homeowners.
