Paul Ward continues to succeed on the road

As the cross country and road season progresses club athletes continue to make tier mark at a variety of venues.

Paul Ward ran a superb 34mins 58secs time for 3rd in the New mills 10k last Sunday.

Donegal Post Primary Schools hosted their annual cross country in Gweedore last Friday. Congratulations to local schools athletes from St Catherine’s, Killybegs and the Abbey Voc School who travelled in large numbers and from results [see attached] had numerous fine individual and team results.

Dublin City Marathon

Best wishes to the large club representation that will travel over the weekend to compete in the Dublin City Marathon. During the last few weeks club groups from Bundoran, Ballyshannon, Donegal Town and Glenties have been putting the final touches to preparations including last long run, tapering and hydration/diet and rest. We wish all every success and hope that all will achieve their individual goals.

Co Board AGM

At a recent well attended Donegal Co Board AGM outgoing Chairman Neil Martin, who stepped down from the position following a decade of quiet dedicated leadership, received numerous heart felt positive tributes from numerous delegates and club representatives. Neil has led the Board during a period that has found membership grow nationally during the past seven years from 25k to 51k and within the county during the past twelve months from 1,799 members to 2,169. Outgoing Secretary Bernie O’Callaghan, a founding member of the Co Board in the early 1970’s also stepped down following of period of exemplary service. New incoming officers include Chairman, Brendan O’Donnell, Lifford AC and Juvenile Sec; Cranford Pauiric McKinney, Innishowen AC –larger report next week.
