A fictional book about a fictional girl is set to come to life at a very real book launch in Letterkenny tonight.ALEXANDRAROSE_Poster

Princess Alexandra Rose of No Fixed Abode’ is a fictional girl with a majestic title who resides amongst us.

Being about a Princess, it is only fitting that the book launch for the first publication from New York author, Sheila Clancy O’Donnell, be set at the impressive “Castle on the Hill” known as St. Eunan’s College.

With the approval of Principal Chris Darby and help from The Saint Eunan’s Parents Committee, this story will come to life tonight, October 23rd from 7:00-8:30pm.

This special, feel good book follows this Irish & American Princess on adventures near (Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Donegal GAA matches) and far (an upstate New York bakery, A Chocolate Park), causing her heart to long to be in several places at once…thus the title “of No Fixed Abode.” It is what lies within her castle, which is like no other, that will capture your heart.

Sheila admits she would have never had gotten to this point without the support of many people, most importantly from her husband, who sent her to Spain for a week to write, to which she did and then rewrote & rewrote again.

As for the illustrations, it was a chance meeting with Sofie Di Bartomoleo, a talented Italian design student who stumbled upon Letterkenny to master her English.

In need of a home and with an interest in fashion, LYIT Fashion Lecturer Sheila took Sofie under her wing, with the result not only being this book, but the entire O’Donnell family gaining a friend and new family member for life. Utilizing the brilliant resources around her, the Author called on local teacher Anne Gillespie, to provide the initial critique while Annraoi Cheevers, Local Primary School Principal gave invaluable and much appreciated editing advice.

A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to help the stellar work of the Marie Keating Foundation & The Michaela Foundation, making this book all the more worthwhile.

This local book will be available for sale at retail outlets from Friday: Eason’s Courtyard Letterkenny, Eason’s Letterkenny Shopping Centre, Mourne Antiques & Gifts Letterkenny, MucknMuffins Dunfanaghy, Macs Newsagent & Bookstore Buncrana, and The Donegal Shop Dublin.
