Hundreds of Donegal athletes have taken part in the Dublin City Marathon.

Maria McCambridge was the second woman home.

And a number have put in terrific performances to smash personal bests while others fulfilled the ultimate dream of completing their very first marathon.

Runners from across the county including Inishowen AC, Finn Valley, Letterkenny, Milford Ac and the Rosses AC all had athletes in the race which attracted a record field 14,600 people.

One man not doing his first marathon (or his one hundredth for that matter!) is Peter McGlynn.

The Letterkenny man is in Dublin along with another well-known Donegal man Roy Hunter.

One of the performances of the day must go to well-known Donegal Democrat man Ciaran O’Donnell who smashed his personal best to cross the line in an amazing time of 3 hours and 12 minutes.

Another man who posted a fantastic time was Milford AC runner Damien McBride in a time of 3 hours and 11 minutes.

Photographer and Finn Valley man Conor McGonagle also ran his heart out and posted a superb time of 3hours and 47 minutes.

Darren Price and Ciaran O'Donnell who both did amazing times of 3.12 in the Dublin Marathon today.

Well-known Dublin athlete Maria McCambridge, who is married to Letterkenny man Gary Crossan, was the second fastest woman home in a time of 2 hours and 34 minutes – just four seconds behind the winner of the women’s race Wanjiru Macharia from Kenya.
