THE motorcyclist killed in last night’s crash on the N13 was Arthur ‘Lenny’ Nelson.

He was a 58-year-old man who had lived on both sides of the Border and was originally from Bond’s Hill in the Waterside area of Derry.

The scene of the crash at Burt was closed all day as Gardaí forensic experts continued to investigate how the incident happened.

Two cars were struck by Mr Nelson’s motorbike. The male driver of one of the cars was treated in Altnagelvin for minor injuries.

The female driver of the second vehicle was unhurt.

Gardaí are trying to establish what caused the crash.

The accident happened at Lisfannon on the Letterkenny-Derry road.

Supt Eugene McGovern appealed for witnesses to come forward, thanking those who had already done so.

He said officers are keen to find out where Mr Nelson had been before the collision and which direction he had been coming from.

He was known to have relatives and friends in Letterkenny.

Supt McGovern wants witnesses to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074-9320540, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The PSNI are helping Gardaí with their investigations.
