LETTERKENNY ROVERS AND COCKHILL CELTIC EMBROILED IN RACISM ROW

LETTERKENNY ROVERSThe FAI are investigating an alleged racist incident that occurred in an FAI Intermediate Cup match between Letterkenny Rovers and Cockhill Celtic last month.

Delegates from both clubs have been instructed to attend an FAI hearing regarding the alleged racist incident next week.

Representatives from both clubs will meet with officials from the (DCU) Disciplinary Controls Unit.

It is believed that a Cockhill Celtic player made racist remarks towards an opponent during their 4-3 win over Letterkenny Rovers.

It’s the second time in just over six months that Donegal Soccer has been rocked by racism allegations.

In March, national attention was brought to an incident involving Castlebar Celtic’s Thierry Baba.

Castlebar Celtic alleged that Baba was the subject of racist chants from a section of the Swilly Rovers support at an SFAI U-15 National Cup tie at Swilly Park.

Swilly Rovers were found guilty and fined €1,000, although the fine was reduced on appeal and a donation was made to charity.
