UNDER 13 COUNTY FINAL

At a sunny Colaiste Aileach in Letterkenny this morning our U 13 girls represented our club with some style against a gallant Glenswilly side winning by a score of 3-9 to 0-6.

This was a brilliant team performance from the girls of Sean Mac Cumhaills led by a brilliant captain Eileen Sweeney who kicked the point of the game from all of 40 yards in the opening minutes to put the girls two points up.

Glenswilly came back strongly but struggled to open up our defence led by Tara Burke, Soibhan Griffin, Ellie Mcdaid, Jody Laverty and the simply superb Amy Laverty who led the defence with clinical tackles and Sublime distribution turning defence into attack time and time again.

Our midfielders Zara Cassidy and Sinead Gallagher worked tirelessly, winning a lot of possession.

Our free scoring forward line led by Catherine Gallagher Kiara McClafferty and Eileen Sweeney ran and ran at the Glenswilly defence setting up and taking scores.

Katie Laverty and the simply sublime Aoife Kelly who scored four superb points during the game worked tirelessly, the half time score was 2-5 to 0-2 to MacCumhaills.

Glenswilly came back strong in the second half, but with Holly Gillespie simply outstanding in goals, they could not get the goal they needed to get back in the game.

Indeed Holly made two outstanding saves in the second half to keep them at bay!

All 20 girls who travelled got game time and Aoife Breen, Ava Martin and Aisling Murphy impressed on introduction with their energy.

Indeed a mention must be given to Ellie Kelly and Emma Murphy who scored a point each upon introduction.

To their credit Glenswilly never gave up to the final whistle with their number 7 and 11 having particularly outstanding games For their club.

The game was played in true sporting manner which is a credit to both clubs!

A great performance by our Girls to finish off the season in style!

Final score MacCumhaills 3-9 Glenswilly 0-6.

It was brilliant to see the support who travelled to Letterkenny to watch the game.

It’s fair to say that Ladies football is on the up at Sean Mac Cumhaills. The future looks bright!
