A staggering 284 house repossession cases are due before Donegal’s courts today.
The cases are listed to be heard at the Registrar’s Court at Letterkenny Courthouse.
The cases, taken by a number of banks and building societies, were put back until today after being mentioned and adjourned in the courts last year.
A number of those involved in the cases have spoken out against the moves on social media in recent days.
It is understood a protest against the possessions may take place outside the courthouse this morning.
One woman, whose house is listed for repossession, told Donegal Daily she has no plans to move out of her home.
“I have tried to do a deal with them and explained to them that I am a single parent and cannot meet the mortgage.
“I have tried to met my bank but they simply will not meet me now.
“They can come and try to take my house from me but they will have to remove me physically.
“I am hoping the Judge can see it from my point of view that I am simply not in a position to pay at the moment,” she said.
