Finn Harps attempts to sign French striker Wilfired Tagbo have been hindered by red tape and international clearance issues.
Members of the Finn Harps board have been working tirelessly to ensure Tagbo can be available for Ollie Horgan’s side for their league opener at Tolka Park next Friday night.
Parisian forward Tagbo has been hugely impressive in his pre-season outings for Harps over the last number of weeks.
He scored the winner against Cork City and also popped up with the crucial goal in the game between Harps and an Inishowen League representative side at Maginn Park a fortnight ago.
It is believed Harps manager Ollie Horgan is keen to acquire the services of the talented Frenchman for the season ahead but so far have been blocked to make the move officials due to a number of hurdles regarding paperwork.
International clearance has caused headaches for many clubs over the years and continues to be problematic.
The process is a slow and drawn out legislative matter and can stressful for all involved in trying to get it through, especially when working against a deadline.
Harps face local rivals Derry City in their final pre-season game before the new season.
Derry host Harps at The Brandywell on Saturday afternoon and represents the last chance Horgan has to tinker with his side before the league opener at Shelbourne.
