Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray has responded to a press release issued by Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig saying he is extremely disappointed at the news that the council will be giving information on council tenants to Irish Water.
He has also said that Councillor Mac Giolla Easbuig was only trying to use cheap publicity for his own gain.
“I had moved a motion directing council staff not to hand over this information but this has been overruled by a government intent on driving water taxation into our communities.
“At the time I had said we should fight this and not take it lying down. Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig chose not to fight and merely engage in cheap publicity. He chose to get his name in the paper rather than fight for the people who elected him.
“He has tried to do the same now by attempting to label me a ‘bluffer’. This comes from a man who refused to vote for a property tax decrease in Donegal, who failed to turn up for budget negotiations and who chose not to attend a vital vote on windfarms in rural Donegal. His media press releases will not inform the people of that.
“When key decisions which affect the people of Donegal are being made, Sinn Féin is present and fights for our people. We don’t look for cheap political points.
“With that information, the people can make up their own minds as to who the bluffer in Donegal County Council is.”
