Ireland-2016-largeThe Co. Donegal Historical Society is widening the scope of its schools’ competition in 2016 to coincide with the Rising Centenary Celebrations.

The theme will cover life and events of 1916 at local, national and/or international level. These can be purely historical events as well as cultural and general family and regional, community daily life.

The format will be in the form of a newspaper. For a class entry it will be an eight page A4 one and for individual entries it will be a four page A4.

Photographs and adverts, etc from that era may also be included. Entries in Irish are very welcome and the details of the competition will also be available in Irish.

The paper may be produced electronically or the traditional way. Closing date will be some time in April, exact date to be decided.

The prize fund will also be increased substantially for this competition.

Full details will be sent to schools and also posted on the Society’s website at www.donegalhistory.com early next term.
