Two large trucks have led tragic Declan Holian to his final resting place today.

The much-loved 30 year old father-of-one was killed instantly when his truck was
in collision with another truck in Co Monaghan on Monday morning last.

Both drivers were killed instantly in the crash which is still being investigated by Gardai.

Hundreds of family and friends stood outside St Mary’s Church in Ramelton in bitterly cold conditions as huge crowds of people came to pay their final respects.

Mourners heard how Declan, from Ballyare, had loved trucks from a very young age and took huge pride in his work.

He had worked for his uncle Sean Hegarty and it was one of Mr Hegarty’s trucks as well as another haulier Martin Boyle whose trucks led Declan to his final resting place.

The congregation were told he was always smiling and simply had a great love of life.

Among the mourner were his fiancee Lorraine McGarvey whom he was due to marry in March and also his 11 year old son Dylan who carried a picture of his beloved late dad behind the hearse.

His mother Philomena, dad Isaac, four brothers and five sisters were also present.

The hearse was decked with floral tributes which read out ‘Dad’, ‘Brother’ and ‘Son.’

After his funeral mass, Mr Holian was laid to rest afterwards in New Leck Cemetery in Letterkenny.

May he rest in peace.
