There was heartbreak for Seamus Coleman tonight as a controversial goal turned the tide for Manchester City in their league cup semi-final clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Everton went into the game leading 2-1 from their first-leg win at Goodison Park, a fortnight ago.
Ross Barkley’s stunning goal after eighteen minutes of the second-leg tonight stunned City – which put Everton 1-0 up on the night, and 3-1 on aggregate.
City hit back five minutes later through Fernandinho – but Everton looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
This game was turned on its head on seventy minutes Raheem Sterling crossed for Kevin De Bruyne to level.
However, replays clearly showed that the ball was out of play when Sterling crossed and the goal should never have stood.
To make matters worse Sergio Aguero scored a stunning third for City which ultimately sent them through to the final at Wembley next month.
Everton were quite rightly furious at the final whistle and an angry Coleman remonstrated with officials at the final whistle.
