Taiwan 6.4 mag 1602051957DL02An earthquake which struck Taiwan yesterday has been recorded in Co Donegal.

A seisamogram was captured by the St Columba’s College Physics Dept seismometer recording the event which took place at 19:57 hrs GMT).

Taiwan sits in an active seismic zone and has a history of serious events.

This quake was shallow (values from 17 to 23 km have been reported), and the damage seems not too extensive, but it did level the apartment building that is in the news today.

Its magnitude was 6.4.

The equipment regularly records earthquakes around the world.
