Frank McBrearty is angry constituents in Raphoe have to travel to Letterkenny to register to vote.

Cllr Mc Brearty has revealed that there is an overwhelming number of people calling to his office for voting registration forms and they were complaining that they cannot register to vote in their local Garda Station.

Tuesday, February 9th is the closing date for the local authority to receive an application for entry to the Supplement to the Register of Electors for the general election.

However, the people of Raphoe will have to go to Letterkenny to get registered as Garda have not made resources available in Raphoe Garda station for people to register to vote.

Even though Cllr Mc Brearty’s office has been inundated with people looking for forms to register, a lot of these people do not have transport to go to Letterkenny and are very angry that their local Garda station cannot provide this service.

Cllr Mc Brearty told Donegal Daily, “I felt this was a disgrace that these people may not be able to vote simply because there are no Garda available to man Raphoe Garda station.
