ANTI-water tax campaigners from County Donegal were among up to 50,000 people who took to the streets of Dublin today.
The Right2Water campaign – now the Right2Change movement – wants the abolition of Irish Water, water taxes, the property tax and investment in housing and health.
A total of 106 election candidates have signed up to the Right2Change principles and include local Sinn Fein candidates and independent Thomas Pringle.
Marchers set off from outside the Garden of Remembrance at 2pm and walked down O’Connell St.
From there they crossed to the South Quays as far as Winetavern Street before going up to Christchurch. The march finished with a rally.
A dozen bus loads of local campaigners travelled to the capital for the march.
Meanwhile it has emerged that a businessman who questioned Sinn Fein deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald – featured on the RTE News yesterday – in Dublin city centre is a multi-millionaire.
Banker Fergus Crawford said he opposed extra taxes on people earning more than €100,000.
Mr Crawford was chief economist at ACC Bank in 2007 and 2008 when the bank ran up debts of €300M. Taxpayers later bailed out ACC with €900M.
