BOXING: After a 5 year gap, Dungloe Boxing Club hosted a successful show in the Community Centre in Maghery on Sunday afternoon.

There were 19 bouts on the packed card, and the huge crowd (200+) that turned out to support the local boxers was not disappointed.

All of the contests were evenly matched and hard fought. This was reflected in the fact that 9 of the 15 decision bouts ended as split decisions.

Credit to the main matchmakers: Jim McCole and Ken Moore.

St Francis, (the club of former WBO Middleweight champion Andy Lee) made the long trip up from Limerick.

The remainder of the card was filled with boxers from other local clubs –  Maydown Olympic (Derry), Letterkenny, Raphoe, Convoy, Bundoran, Dunree & Dunfanaghy.

The officials who made the trip down ensured a safe & well run event and the coaches & cornermen brought the best out in their boxers.

The club would also like to thanks all those who helped run the show and the photographers who captured the action, and all the local businesses that generously sponsored the show.
