A Carrigart family certainly aren’t letting the ‘sands of time’ get under their feet.

Instead the McGettigan family have spent hours making two amazing sand art designs over the weekend.

Carpenter and maintenance company owners John James McGettigan, wife Anna and daughters Laura, 20, Aoibhe, 5, and Mia, 3, left passers-by stunned with their designs.

JJ and the family go to work on Trá mor and Trá beag in Downings.

The first is a floral design and the second is the cardinal points of a compass and it’s laid out on the beach pointing to true north!

JJ said the family had great fun making the designs.

Aoibhe (5) and Mia (3), and wife Anna helped JJ colour in the designs with the aid of a garden rake.

JJ laughed “My daughters are already scribbling away designing the next one. We had great fun and there wasn’t an iPad or iPhone in sight.”
