Posters need to be taken down by this Friday.

Some election candidates may be feeling a little hard-done-by after the weekend’s count.

But the bad news is that candidates could find themselves with a financial headache if they don’t remove their posters.

A spokesperson for Donegal County Council confirmed candidates have until this Friday to get the posters down from posts, grass margins and anywhere else they have stuck them!

“In accordance with Section 19 (7)(b)(ii) of the Litter Pollution Act and Section 71 (10) of the Roads Act 1993, posters must be removed by the 7th day after polling,” said the spokesperson.

Each poster left up after that date can cost the candidate €150.

Members of the public can make official complaints to Donegal County Council.
