Harps have earned a famous win over Derry City.

Finn Harps have recorded their first league win over Derry City in eighteen years – after a glorious night at Finn Park.

Goals from Dave Scully and Ryan Curran ensured a famous, famous win for Ollie Horgan’s men.

Derry started brightly and had two decent chances through Jordan Allan and Gareth McGlynn.

However, as the game wore on Harps settled into it, but both teams were cancelling each other and chances were at a premium.

The turning point came right on the stroke of half-time, Conor McCormack fouled Dave Scully.

From the resulting free-kick Scully got on the end of it and powered his header past Gerard Doherty.

With the pitch making life difficult for both sides, there was very little created by either side.

However, Harps got the crucial second goal on the 75th minute.

Curran beat the offside trap and finished superbly to send the Harps fans into raptures.

Harps looked home and dry, but Rory Patterson scored in injury-time to set up a grandstand finish.

Harps clung on and recorded a famous win and ended that eighteen year long hoodoo!
