ATHLETICS: FINN VALLEY ATHLETES PARTICPATE AT SCOTTISH INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

ATHLETICS: Lauren Callaghan from Killygordon was a member of a small group of Finn Valley athletes that competed in the Scottish indoor champs over the weekend.

Her best event was the long jump which saw her get out to 5m which was good enough to claim silver just missing out on gold by 6cms.

She also returned 8.41 in the 60m semi’s which was a PB.

Aine Wilkinson in similar events had a 4.16m long and a 1.43 high.

Kyle Leeper just beat on countback in the high finishing a frustrating 4th at 1.57.

Cara Wilkinson younger sister of Aine had 2 pb performances 3.75 in long and 1.21 in high narrowly missing out on 1.26 both pb performances.

All valuable experience in view of this weekends nationals in Athlone.

In Sligo on Saturday Aoife Mc Grath a student at Loreto, Omagh was a member of their team that collected bronzethe sole Donegal related schools medal in itself disappointing.

Elsewhere Lifford athlete Brendan O’ Donnell threw a European Youth Q mark in the hammer at 64.72m

Kenny O Donnell from Convoy finished 14th in THE RACE  a 250km endurance event a special feat in itself.
