Ballyliffin Golf Club Results by Phelim Davenport

 

Another fine weekend for golf in Ballyliffin and the scoring was red hot.

The Saturday Open was won by John G Kelly with 41pts.In 2nd place was long time Carn F.C. stalwart Michael Mc Elhinney who emigrated to Letterkenny many years a go with 40pts.In 3rd was 4 handicapper Jason Mc Intyre also with 40pts on the break of a tie.In 4th place was former ballboy Shaun O Donnell with 39pts. The gross went to Brendan Devlin with 33 gross pts.

The Sunday competition for the Dr Paul Crotty Cup was played in perfect golfing conditions,and the scoring matched the weather.In 1st place and only on the break of a tie was Johnny Mc Eleney with 44pts.Johnny let loose now that his election duties were over.In 2nd place was Paul Matthews also with 44pts.In 3rd place back after being out of the frame for awhile was Paddy Monagle with 42pts.Also returning 42pts and coming 4th was the flying scotsman Alan Gracie on the break of a tie.The gross went again to that man Brendan Devlin with 37 gross pts. 3 over after 10 holes Brendan played the last 8 holes in 4 under including 2 birdies and an eagle at the 17th for the round of the day.
