All Ireland Indoor Track & Field Results:

Great performances from all three of our Club athletes who competed in Day 1 of the All Ireland Indoor Champ’s in Athlone on saturday. All three athletes set new personal bests in their events and gained valuable experience competing against the cream of the country. In the field Jordon Gallagher threw a new pb of 7.41m in the boys u13 Shot. A great performance in his first year at this event.

On the track both Emma Brown and Aoife mcGee both showed their talent setting pb’s of 8.43sec and 9.13sec respectively. Emma competed in the U15 60m sprint fresh of her performance in Magherafelt on Thursday. Aoife McGee also showed her potential in the U12 Girls 60m. A word of thanks to those who travelled to support these young athletes.

DAY 2 saw  Leah and Amber compete.

Well done to our two club athletes that competed today in Day 2 of the All Ireland indoor Track & Field Athletics champ’s in Athlone. In the U12 Girls Shot, Amber Gallagher showed great form narrowly missing out on the medals with a great throw of 6.79m to gain a well deserved 4th place.

In the u14 Long Jump, Gweedore girl, Leah McGarvey again showed her talent pulling out a massive jump of 4.48m to set a new personal best. The club would also like to thank all those who travelled to Athlone to support the athletes. Next week sees DAY 3 of the National Indoor Champ’s where the Club’s relay qualifiers are in action.

Ulster sportshall finals

Team Donegal competed  in Magherafelt at the Ulster Sportshall Finals. The Club had 11 athletes participating in the various age groups. A total of 24 medals were won by our club athletes with 15 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze making up the tally. They all represented our club, their schools and the County to a very high standard and with great sportsmanship. A big congratulations to their coaches and team managers – Louise Gillespie, Sean Mc Ginley, Ita Gallagher and Leanne Sharkey who all travelled and also put in the hard work in order achieve todays great results. Three from the four Donegal teams have qualified for the UK finals taking place in Manchester in April. The U.15 girls teams just missed out by 6 points to Team Belfast but a fine display none the less from these talented young ladies.

Congratulations to all our club members involved
