HURLING: UNDERAGE LEAGUES MAKE A RETURN

Road HurlingUnderage Hurling made a welcome return on Thursday evening as the U 14 and minor Leagues began.

In the minor league holders Buncrana were far too strong for Letterkenny Gaels and had a facile victory over them in Scarvey. This is an exceptional Buncrana team who are going to be very difficult to beat this season and are the benchmark for all other teams in the county.

In the game of the night Carndonagh after a terrific battle with Burt at home won out by the narrowest of margins on a 1.11 to 2.7 scoreline. This was a great start to the league for the Carn lads who captured the B title in 2015.

There was another terrific game in Mc Cumhaill Park, where a very talented home side caused something of a surprise beating St Eunans 5.7 to 4.5. The Ballybofey lads showed that they are a team to look out for this season.

In the final league game in Setanta, a very young Aodh Ruadh team had a good victory over a never say die Setanta team on a 4.14 to 1.6 score line.

In Division 1 of the U 14 League Buncrana followed up on their recent capture of the County Feile title with a comprehensive win over Burt in Hibernian Park on a 3.11 to 1.3 score line. This victory coupled with the minor’s success shows the huge work being put into hurling in Scarvey and they really are the yardstick for all other clubs in the county.

In Division 2 of the U 14 league Aodh Ruadh had a comfortable win over Dungloe/Gaothdobhair 7.11 to 5.1, it was their ability to score points in Fr Tierney Park that proved the difference in this game, finishing off a good week for them as they had claimed the County B Feile title last Sunday.
