They may look nice and people like them for their large pink flowers but rhododendrons are taking over the hills in west Donegal.
Well known local gardener and horticulturalist Dónall Ó Cnáimhsí will be giving a talk on controlling invasive species such as Rhododendrons, Japanese Knotweed and Gunnera in the Ionad Pobal, Dunlewey on Tuesday 5th April at 8pm.
The recent mild winters have contributed to an explosion in these unwelcome visitors to our neighbourhoods and roadsides.
Entitled “Managaing our Landscape” Dónall’s talk will focus on how to control these species and how early intervention is key.
Anyone with an interest in this subject is welcome to attend. There will also be a Q & A session on the night to answer any specific questions you might have.
