The Loughside Community launched their action plan 2016 in the Silver Tassie Hotel last Wednesday night.
A large crowd gathered in the Silver Tassie to hear about the action packed year ahead for the Loughside Community.
The Loughside Community group was set up in November 2013 by local Loughside resident Noel Sweeney. The group has grown in stature and all activities are now coordinated by a committee elected annually at the AGM. The group now enters its third year with almost 500 members on their text alert database.
A constitution for the community group was also presented and unanimously adopted at the meeting.
Loughside Community Chairperson Brian Sweeney said “This is a major step forward for the Group as it formalises the structure and operations of the group”. Brian paid tribute to Declan O’Carroll and Brian O’Reilly who worked hard to draft the constitution and chair the committee debates.
Brian continued, “We’ve had a very successful first two year and received tremendous support from the residents of the Loughside”. “2016 will be about business as usual on the Loughside”. “We want to make it as difficult as possible for the unwelcomed visitors to our area by working closely with An Garda Siochana and using the Text Alert System”.
“We will also run a number of community events to help foster a good community spirit within the Loughside”.
Loughside Community will run the first of their Community Events on Saturday 16th April. An area clean up will take place followed by tea and coffee at the Silver Tassie Hotel. The event will be supported by Donegal County Council.
