HORRIBLE WEATHER! MOTORISTS WARNED OF OVERNIGHT SNOW

Snow last Friday night/Saturday morning

MOTORISTS are being warned to expect some snow in County Donegal overnight – as a bitter northern wind continues to pound the county.

Sleet showers are also expected in coastal areas of the county.

It follows a very windy day and thundery hail showers in part of Donegal today.

But it’s inland and on higher ground tonight where snow will fall as as temperatures drop to -2C.

Winds gusting to 70km/hr have brought another chilly April day to Donegal.

While we should see more sunshine on Saturday, there will be some showers – and then another bitterly cold night on Saturday night.

There’s no sign of it getting any warmer either, which is bad news for farmers.

It’ll be cold on Sunday too but it will be dry with good sunshine. Temperatures will reach 9 or 10 degrees in mainly light to moderate westerly winds.

We should be frost free on Sunday as cloudier conditions will keep temperatures at about 4C or 5C.

Although staying rather cold for Monday and Tuesday with temperatures just 10 to 12 degrees at best – still a couple of degrees lower than usual for the time of year – it will be mainly dry with some good spells of sunshine expected.

We can also expect isolated showers throughout next week.
