BlaneyFORMER DONEGAL TD Niall Blaney has failed in his political comeback.

The Fianna Fáil man had put his name forward for the Industry and Commerce panel in the Seanad elections and was eliminated on the 27th count.

It had looked at one stage that he could land a seat.

But his bid failed late last night.

A member of Independent Fianna Fáil until he joined Fianna Fáil in 2006, he served as a TD for Donegal North East from 2002 to 2011.

However he dramatically decided not to run for the seat in 2011.
