DONEGAL TEACHER VERONICA HELPS CHOIR REACH SEMI-FINAL OF ‘BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT’

A Donegal teacher has helped a Kilkenny choir through to the semi-final of hit television show Britain’s Got Talent.

Veronica McCarron, from Cashelard, led the choir from Presentation Secondary School on tonight’s show.

The young ladies choir originally got lots of attention after Simon Cowell openly flirted with Veronica during the audition stages.

Veronica, and her range of spectacles, made her an instant hit with the nation.

But now the group have earned their place in the semi-final down to pure talent.

Although Veronica retired two years ago, she still travels up and down to Kilkenny, directing the choir.

She started the Presentation choir, with 50 students, in 1996 and there are now 300 students in the choral programme.

She only auditions students to find out which voice type they have and doesn’t cut anyone.

Now in it’s tenth year the winner of Britain’s Got Talent will perform for the queen at the Royal Variety Performance and win a £250,000 prize.
