Senior League Division 2

Naomh Muire 1-11 v Malin 2-08

Malin got off to the best possible start in the Banks with a goal and a point in the opening four minutes. Naomh Muire, keen to get off their foot of the table position, clawed back the deficit with 3 points from Shaun ‘the yank’ Boyle , 2 points from Harry Harden and a point each from Jack O’Brien and Daniel Devlin to leave the half time score Naomh Muire 0-07 v Malin 1-04.

Naomh Muire had the better of the play in the second half but were more wasteful when opportunities to put the game beyond Malin’s reach , were presented. The home side played some impressive direct football but in a tight tie, missed chances eventually cost them both points.

Naomh Muire led by three points with 12 minutes remaining but a Malin goal brought the Inishowen men back into a game they looked like losing. Malin then went an point ahead before a Darragh White free equalised and gave Naomh Muire a share of the points in a game they let slip.

Brendan Mc Laughlin with a score of 0-5 was an constant threat in the Malin attack and for the home side Jack Boyle at 18 years of age was a impressive half back sweeping up possession and driving forward at every chance.

Naomh Muire team and scorers – Lee Boyle, Robbie O’Donnell, Adi O Gara , Sean P Gallagher, Cian Boyle, Brian Gillespie, Jack Boyle (0-01), Adam O Brien, Jack O Brien (0-01), Daniel Devlin, Padraig Mc Cafferty, Harry Harden (0-03), Owenie Mc Garvey, Patrick Gillespie (1-0), Shaun ‘Yank’ Boyle (0-04)
