PICTURE SPECIAL: Letterkenny Gaels hosted a successful under 8 and 10 football blitz against Red Hughes last Saturday at Pairc na nGael.

Over 100 children, accompanied by a large crowd of parents and grandparents, enjoyed some top quality football in the beautiful sunshine at the Glebe on Saturday morning.

The strength of underage football at both clubs was on show with Red Hughes and Letterkenny Gaels both fielded two very strong under 8 and two under 10 teams. All teams were very evenly matched and amazingly all eight games finished in score draws. The u8 and u10 teams involved a healthy mix of boys and girls which was very positive for girls’ football at both clubs. These football blitzes are part of the GAA Go Games series that will run during May and June. Letterkenny Gaels u8s and u10s will play against number of local clubs in a non-competitive fun environment.

Training continues every Sunday morning from 11am – 12noon for u6s, u8s and u10s age groups. If Sunday morning doesn’t suit, the club also provides an additional training session for the U8s and U10s age groups on Wednesday evenings from 7 – 8 pm. To enquire about the underage football training, Parents should contact John McDermott (086) 8561768 (under 6s), Brian Sweeney (087) 2282386 (under 8s), David O’Callaghan (086) 769 0305 (under 10’s) and Donal Murphy (087) 6858546 (Under 12’s) or come along any Sunday or Wednesday. New boys and Girls welcome to join in the fun any week.
