Sin an Saol is a new series on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta as part of the summer schedule.
The participants in the series are aged from 80 to 99, and in the programmes they share memories, stories and advice on life with presenter Dónall Mac Ruairí, based on what they have learned over their long years.
They touch on many of the big questions in life – youth, death, love, contentment, work, emigration, technology, loneliness and more.
They tell us what their first memories are, about education and school in their time, the arrival of electricity and water, and about some great historic events that happened during their lifetimes – the Second World War, Bloody Sunday, the assassination of JFK and more.
Participants in the series are Nóra Frainc Chonaill Bn Uí Raghallaigh, Willie Mhary Bhillie Ó Dugáin, Prionsias Mac Giolla Bhríde, Paddy Khit Ó Dónaill, Cathal Mac Cealáin, Peigí Mhic Ruairí, Timlín Ó Dochartaigh, Pádraig Mac Giolla Easpuig, Fanny Nic Aoidh, John Mac a’ Bhaird, Róise Uí Bhaoill, Éibhlín Mhic Breartaigh, John Mac Gaoithín and Sissy Mhaggie Mhic Ionraic.
