A great crowd is once again expected in Glenswilly for the local GAA club’s annual 5K race tonight.

All proceeds from the event, which starts at 7.30pm, will go to the development of underage teams at the club.

But although dubbed a race, a major emphasis will be placed on the fun element of the evening and people getting out in the fresh air.

There will be prizes throughout the various categories and everyone who completes the race, both walkers and runners, will receive goodie bag courtesy of main sponsor Michael Murphy Sports.

And the one thing which will be guaranteed on the night is the best of post-race refreshments.

Over the years the event has received a name for having the finest of sandwiches and buns and this year promises to be no different.

Showers will also be available on the night after the race.

Pre-registration take place in the clubhouse from 6-7pm.

The entry fees costs €8 per adult and €2 per child with a maximum fee of €20 per family.

Chipped times will also be available for those keeping an eye on their running progress on what is a fast course.

So put the date in your diary – Glenswilly 5k – Next Tuesday at 7.30pm.

And with the forecast giving a fine evening with plenty of sunshine, it will be the perfect way to pass the evening while staying healthy.

See you all there.
