‘WE CANNOT WAIT UNTIL 2021 FOR THESE SCHOOLS’ SAYS DONEGAL SENATOR

Donegal Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has stated that he will now ask the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton to prioritise resources in his department towards the fast tracking of the design, tendering and construction process for the new three school campus in Buncrana.

He was speaking following news that one site has been identified in the town and that negotiations to secure the site are underway.

Senator Mac Lochlainn said: “I welcome the news that a site has been identified but it has taken 11 years to get to this point and that is a profound systemic failure. It is now vital that the Minister for Education prioritise this vital three schools project, catering for Crana College, Gaelscoil Bun Cranncha and Choláiste Chineal Eoghain.”

He added that the current buildings or sites for these three schools are not near suitable for their needs and our school children and students have been failed for too long.

“I will be calling on the Minister to fast track the design, tender and construction process as much as possible, working in partnership with Donegal County Council and Donegal ETB. We cannot wait till 2021 for these schools”.
