HOUSINGJust over €1M has been provisionally approved for Donegal County Council to take 40 housing developments in charge.

The news has been welcomed by Junior Minister Joe McHugh.

He said “The Minister for Housing, Simon Coveney TD, has confirmed to me that €1,049,769 has been provisionally approved for Donegal County Council to take 40 housing developments in charge. 1818 units will be taken in charge by the Council thanks to this funding.

“This is really great news for housing estates and developments right across the entire county, that have been left unfinished or in need of further work by developers. Now that these developments will be under the remit of Donegal County Council this work can finally be done, and families can expect to live in high quality developments that are properly serviced.

“This funding allocation from Government also enables Donegal County Council to raise a further €347,803 through bonds and other sources, in order to help finance this initiative.

“Minister Coveney has said that this initiative should be seen in the context of the Government’s forthcoming Action Plan for Housing. Funding provided through Local Authorities will support the provision of new infrastructure to support the development of high quality homes for all.”
