Club news

Our reserves were defeated at the weekend by Downings. A minutes silence was observed before this game in memory of former reserve player and club member James Hegarty who sadly passed away last week. James became a popular Club Member and Player and was always available to assist the Club in any way he could. He will be greatly missed and our sympathies go to his wife and family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

The next outing for our senior men will be on Saturday 23rd July when we welcome Urris to Pairc na nGael in the Junior A Championship.

Congratulations to former senior club player Benny Conboy on his recent marriage.
The underage football training continues every Sunday morning at Pairc na nGael from 11am to 12 noon. Please bring water and a mouth guard. New players are always welcome.

Well done to the U-16 lads who had a good win over Red Hugh’s last week but unfortunately lost out on Monday evening to Mac Cumhaills.

Outdoor Hurling training for U-6, U-8 & U-10 continues every Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Hurls and helmets provided. New players welcome.

U-12 to U-18 hurling continues every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm.

Hard luck to our young U-12 team who despite a battling performance lost out to Carndonagh last Thursday evening.

Sympathy is also extended to minor hurling manager Conor Boyce and his family on the passing of Conor’s mother Nellie.

U-12 girls football training takes place at the pitch every Sunday morning from 11am-12noon. All welcome.

Camogie Training continues at Pairc na nGael every Monday from 6pm-7.30pm for U12s, 14s, 16s & 18s and Friday evenings from 6-7.00pm for U8s, 10s, 12s & 14s.

Hurling
The Hurling Training Week which concluded last Friday was a great success with scores of young Gaels braving the summer showers to learn and enjoy the skills of the game. Please see the club Facebook page for pictures.

Congratulations to Caoimhe Doherty, Eimear Quinn, Anna McHugh, Ornaith Ui Fhearghail representing Gaels Camogie in Donegal U16 blitz in Cavan. Donegal finished in second place on this first blitz day with the second to follow on 24th July.

Gaels U12 camogie girls have been selected to take part in Caman to Croker on 8th August. The squad will travel to Croke Park to participate in a blitz and visit the museum.

Ladies

Our senior ladies made the short trip to Ballbofey on Sunday to take on Mac Cumhaills in the Division 3 Northwest League. The girls were defeated but are gaining experience as every week passes. Next up the girls will square up to Killybegs with date and times to be confirmed.

The Minor Ladies are fixed to play a local derby when they welcome St. Eunans to Pairc na nGael on Tuesday 19th July.
