Almost 300 runners took part in Wednesday night’s Lifford Strabane AC 5K. The race was won by Foyle Valley’s Chris McGuinness in 15.36.

Gynn Yemm was the 1st Letterkenny AC runner, in a time of 19.01. In-form Noeleen Scanlan ran 19.02 to record her 2nd PB in a week and was the 2nd Senior Woman. Claire McGuigan, of host club Lifford Strabane AC, took 1st place in the women’s race in 18.12.

Richard Raymond’s successful summer continued and his time of 21.37 gave him 2nd place in the M60 category. Gary McBride ran 22.42 and Danny Sharkey 22.53.

Churchill 5K
LAC runners were to the fore in Friday night’s Churchill 5K, where runners were faced with heavy rain and a strong wind. Danny Mooney was the 1st finisher, in a time of 16.27 and was very closely followed by Ivan Toner in 16.30.

Raymond Birch’s excellent form continued and he came home in 17.13, followed by Gerard McGranaghan in 17.32. Colly O’Donnell’s fine form continued and he made light of the adverse weather conditions to finish in 18.22. Padraig Friel was the next LAC runner, in 18.32, followed by Marcus McClintock in 18.41 and Ciaran O’Donnell in 18.59.

Monica McGranaghan’s superlative form continued and she took 1st place in the women’s race in 19.10. Paul Cosgrove clocked 19.24 and Frances Judge’s domination of her category continued, with her time of 19.49 giving her 1st place in the W45 category. Seamus Gallagher has enjoyed phenomenal success since he recently joined the ranks of M60 runners. He took 2nd place in 20.07.

Another in-form runner, Paul Sweeney, finished in 20.24, Naoise Enright 21.19 and Marian Kerr’s time of 21.58 gave her 1st place in the W40 category. M60 athlete Jimmy McBride came home in 22.10, Eilis McCafferty in 22.37, Margaret Shiels in 22.38, Patricia McKenna in 23.09 and Barry Meehan ran round with his wife, Marie, in 24.57.
