DDTV: Sky Sports hilarious announcement on Given’s retirement

Donegal legend Shay Given announced his retirement from international duty yesterday and social media went into meltdown.

When Sky Sports came about to read out the news about the Lifford’s man retirement, it proved more difficult than expected for the sport broadcaster.

Shay Given published a heartfelt retirement thanking everyone who helped him become Ireland’s number one.

Irish wouldn’t be Sky Sports’s strongest language and this is evident in this hilarious video captured by Adrian McGeown.

At the end of Given’s statement it read ”Go raibh maith agat”, but have a listen to how Sky Sports pronounce a cúpla focal in the Irish language.

“That’s in Gaelic at the end there, apologies – I can’t read that out.”

Perhaps a bean an tí should help the Sky Sports presenter brush up on his gaeilge.
