Live Life Lisa Orsi Foundation:
Our senior ladies player Mairead Coll from Kerrykeel has been chosen by the Live Life Lisa Orsi Foundation to take part in and experience the Asian Gaelic games as well as visiting major sites such as the Great Wall of China, Beijing.

The foundation aims to develop teamwork, confidence, self-esteem and leadership abilities of the young people in our local area, irrespective of community background, as part of a legacy project promoting the aspirations of a young girl who tragically died before her time!

They want to develop responsible and confident young people who will have the confidence to help out in their community going forward. Being involved in a sport or team environment promotes positive behaviour and reduces the risk of young people becoming involved in anti-social behaviour.

The Live Life Lisa Orsi project is hoping to take up to 40 young people, many from disadvantaged backgrounds that will never get an opportunity like this, Mairéad has been chosen by the foundation to represent Fanad Gaels.
The foundation is a voluntary organisation and wants to ensure they source as much financial support/sponsorship as possible to ease the burden on the young people. To minimise the burden on young people the foundation would like each club to help fundraising for the programme.

In the weeks to come Mairéad with the help of the club and her friends will run some fundraisers to help with the cost of the project. This is a great opportunity for Mairéad and your support would be very much appreciated.
Keep an eye on the Gaeil Fhánada Facebook page for information on forthcoming fundraisers.

U12 boys:
Our u12s played a friendly against a Knockalla caravan park select this morning in trialoch. Credit must be given to both teams for putting up a good high scoring display in such windy conditions. Well done to everyone involved and its hoped that this will become an annual event from now on. Some of our young u10 players who made the step up were very impressive. James McAteer, Eoghan Logue, Jamie McAteer and Declan Brougham played very well. And it was interesting to see how some of our older boys adapted to playing on the full pitch in a 15 a side match with Cian Sweeney and a number of others who stood out.

U18 boys:

Our Minor boys team got their championship campaign off to the best possible start with an emphatic victory over Letterkenny Gaels on Monday evening. Eoghan Carr was scorer in chief and proved yet again he’s one of the most talented sharpshooters in the minor age group in Donegal. It was also great to see some of our U16 team contributing to the scoreboard. Patrick Carr pulled the strings from half forward and has the ability to progress to the Gaels senior team if he sticks at it. Odhran also marked his performance with a trademark goal.

Team and scorers: Oran Blaney, Michael Gallagher, Tiernan Cushnan, Bernard Martin, Fergus. Friel, Odhran Shiels (1-0), Dan Little, Michael Shiels, Oisin Mc Fadden (1-1), Bernard Mc Gettigan, Paddy Carr (1-0), Shaun Little (1-1),
Mark Mc Ateer (0-2), Eoghan Carr (1-8), Matthew Gallagher,. Subs used, Eoghan Mc Gonigle for Oran Blaney, (injured) Darren Mc Elwaine for Matthew Gallagher, Niall Shiels (0-2) for Bernard Mc Gettigan. Shaun Kerr (0-1) for Fergus. Friel, and Brandon Mc Clafferty (0-1) for Mark Mc Ateer

Wishing our goalkeeper Oran Blaney a speedy recovery after he picked up a nasty head injury when he collided with the post while pulling off a save.

Seniors:

Our senior team were defeated by Letterkenny Gaels at the weekend on a scoreline of 4-5 to 1-9. They battled well but conceding four goals was always going to prove to be an uphill battle. Next game is most likely this weekend against Noamh Ultan in a crucial game. Only one point separates both teams in the Division 3 league table.
Our reserves won on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-8
