Donegal to say fond farewell to one of its finest musical ambassadors today

The funeral takes place today of one of Donegal’s most renowned musicians, Padraig Duggan.

Mr.Duggan, 67, who was an original member of Clannad, passed away at his home in Dublin on Tuesday.

Tributes have flowed in for the musician who will be taken to his final resting place following his funeral mass at 1pm today at St.Mary’s Church in Derrybeg.

Many well-known faces from the world of music, where the late Mr Duggan was held in huge regard, are expected to be at today’s funeral mass.

Mr Duggan’s brother-in-law, Leo Brennan, father of the famous Brennan family who also formed Clannad, was buried following his funeral mass at the same church just a few short weeks ago.

A celebration of Padraig’s life is both word and song is expected at today’s funeral mass which will be followed by burial at the nearby Maghergallon cemetery.

Mr Duggan, who lived in Palmerstown in Dublin, is survived by his wife Janet and extended family.
