Business Profile: Donegal Daily is launching a series of business profiles on some of the counties most exciting entrepreneurial talent.

In today’s first business profile, we’re featuring Owen O’Donnell, an innovative software developer and web designer from West Donegal.

Owen, 28, from Burtonport, has recently launched his new website, which indicates clearly the brilliant services he can offer businesses in both development and design.

He is unique in the fact that he has the added advantage of being a software developer as well as having a good eye for design.

This enables him to add more complex features to a website or application. Often web design and backend development are provided by way of two different services which increases cost overheads and also requires communication with two parties.

This is not ideal. This gives advantage which means Owen can offer a wide range of services to prospective clients.

O’Donnell has been involved in a number of exciting projects over the years, but is keen to branch out on his own in a freelance capacity.

He graduated from LYIT in 2014 with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science.

He has recently joined the Software Development team at American multi-national corporation Pramerica, having previously worked for software company 8over8 in Derry.

O’Donnell simply describes himself as a software developer with a passion for web design, with a love for developing simple, clean and slick websites that provide real value to the end user.

The IT enthusiast told Donegal Daily, “Working on a freelance basis is something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m excited about taking on new projects and challenges ahead.

“I suppose, I enjoy being in control of a project, and being tasked with the sole responsibility to either create an app, website or blog for a client.

“I’m passionate about software development, I always have been – but more recently I sort of discovered I also possessed a passion for front end web design.

“Any project I embark on, I strive to ensure that it provides real value to end user, I always strive for perfection because when you do this you leave a lasting impression on other people. It’s the same with everything really. Any project I work on I will focus on every detail and this is what people will see with the end results.”
