The Olympic Games are continuing to go from bad to worse for Team Ireland, following the sensational arrest of Olympic President Pat Hickey.
Reports surfacing from Brazil this morning claim that Hickey was arrested at his hotel in Rio de Janeiro this morning.
Hickey’s arrest is believed to be in relation to his alleged involvement in the irregular sale of Olympic tickets.
Last week, Irishman Kevin Mallon was arrested in Brazil over the alleged illegal sale of tickets for the Rio games.
However, he claimed he was acting as a collection contact for an official sales agent.
The Olympic Council Ireland (OCI) said it has no knowledge of Mr Mallon and launched an investigation with PRO10.
Minister of Sport, Shane Ross was expected to grill Pat Hickey over the controversy earlier this week when he flew to Rio last Sunday.
