Dunfanaghy Golf Club: Caravaner’s Classic a big hit!

Dunfanaghy Golf Club Notes

Well done and congratulations to Cathal Daly and Tony Bonar who made such a fantastic job of organising the Caravaner’s Classic this year. While most of the country suffered from wet and windy conditions, Dunfanaghy Golf Club was bathed in glorious sunshine throughout
Saturday where over 40 teams enjoyed a great day’s golf.

“The Caravaner’s” is one of the most popular events of the year where much needed funds are raised for the club. Also, a proportion of the funds are donated to one or more charities. This year Cathal and Tony decided to donate a proportion of the funds to two local charities, namely the Dunfanaghy Tidy Towns Committee and “ACT”, a charity which raises money to support children in Donegal affected by terminal illness.

Scoring on the day matched the weather where the winning team of E Gallagher, R Shields, M Dunne and P Bonner came in with a sparkling score of 101 points. In second place was local team of Cornie McMullan, Joe Terry, Peadar Curran and Liam McBride while third place went to Brian McGinley, Kieran McTaggart, Rory McLaughlin and Hugh Ferry.

At the presentation Captain Denis Martin thanked Tony and Cathal for the monumental effort they put into organising the event. Cathal also thanked all those who helped in staging the event and in particular the staff on the course and in the clubhouse.
