There is widespread disgust being expressed following the news that the home of late Donegal singer Stevie Martin was ransacked by thieves.

The callous burglars robbed his home on Great James Street, Derry – and made away with his blue Stratocaster guitar, other sentimental musical equipment in the property, and a sum of money.

The deplorable lowlifes ransacked his property while family and friends issued heartfelt appeals for information on his whereabouts when he was reported missing.

A search and rescue operation was launched by lifeboat services and the 118 helicopter when Mr Martin’s vehicle was found by Gardaí close to Fanad Pier.

Originally from Lifford, the superbly talented 29 year old, also known has Rainy Boy Sleep had gained major popularity in local music circles – and was tipped to eventually become a huge star in his own right.

Sadly, his body was found close to Co. Sligo on August 13th.

Police in Derry are now launching an appeal for information from the public in relation to the burglary.

Police say the robbery occurred between 10.30am on Thursday 11th, and 11.30am on Friday 12th.

Stephen’s family have expressed their desire to get these precious items located and returned to them.

If anyone can provide information in relation to the burglary they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them on 0800 555 111.
