GAA News: Malin now level with Naomh Mhuire on three points

Malin drew away in Naomh Muire in the championship last Sunday, a result which sees them level on three points with Naomh Muire – Sean Mac Cuimhaills have two points with this weeks opposition Glenfin on zero.

Malin will know that a win will guarantee a quarter final spot and hope to see a large crowd at Connolly Park to support them. Adam Byrne got Malin off the mark before the home side raced into a four point lead with a goal and two points.

Final score: Naomh Muire 1-08 Malin 1-08

Malin came back with a goal from Kieron McColgan, who has scored a good few goals this year from his half back position. The home side edged ahead again but were kept in check by Matthew Byrne and the half time score read Naomh Muire 1-05 Malin 1-03. The second half was a low scoring affair with Seamus Houghton, Declan Walsh and Brendan McLaughlin’s three points helping Malin to a share of the spoils.

The team on the day was Darragh McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin, Conor Farren, Gary Farren, Kieron McColgan (1-00), Damien Harkin, Paul McLaughlin, Adam Byrne (0-1), Declan Walsh (0-01), Stephen McLaughlin, Matthew Byrne (0-02), Darren McLarkey, Brendan McLaughlin (0-03), Seamus Houghton (0-01) and Michael Byrne. Subs used Ryan Doherty for Matthew Byrne (50 mins).

The reserves lost out in their game.

Michael Murphy Sports Donegal Senior Championship Fixture: Malin V Glenfin on Sunday 4th of September in Connolly Park at 2:00pm,reserves at 12:30pm. All Support welcome.

 

Underage

The minor girls have training every Monday at 8:00pm. All girls from aged 15 upwards and new members are welcome to attend. The minor boys were beaten last week by Fanad and are playing at home to Letterkenny Gaels on Tuesday at 7:00pm in the championship. The under 13’s are away to Cloughaneely on Wednesday at 7:00pm. The under 16 girls are playing away against Moville on Wednesday at 6:30pm.

 

Lotto

There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €800. The numbers drawn were 6-3- 7-5- 1-24. The €50 winner was Christopher Doherty (PM), Middletown, Malin Head. Next week’s jackpot is €850.

 

Pool Room

Our new pool room is now open every Saturday and Sunday evenings from 8:00pm to 11:00pm in the clubhouse for anyone looking to play a game of pool. Pool competitions will be run in the Autumn. Everyone welcome.

 

Jiving Lessons

Jiving Lessons will re-commence in the Clubhouse on Monday 12th September from 9pm to 10pm for 6 weeks with Josie & Catriona. €5 per person. Everyone welcome.

 

Shop

The club shop is open every Saturday from 12.00 – 2.00 and Sunday from 11.20 – 2.00 or alternatively contact Susan Byrne on 9370638 or 0867832242 .

The shop has a great range of stock in all sizes including coats, jackets, hoodies, tracksuits, socks, shorts, hats, new gear bags and much more club merchandise.
