One of Donegal’s most loved football men turns 80………

There was a big birthday bash for one of the most well-known footballing personalities in Donegal last night.

The former Fanad United physiotherapist, and current Finn Harps kit-man Tommy Harkin celebrated his 80th birthday party at The Fisherman’s Inn, St Johnston.

Harkin is a legend of the local game – and is one of the most popular characters to grace football pitches in the county.

His son Kenny had a decorated career in the local game, and his grandson Gareth pulls the strings in the Harps midfield.

But we doubt either of them have the flexibility of Tommy – who even at 80 can still kick his hand while holding it over his head!

The affable Harkin has served numerous teams outside of Fanad United and Finn Harps, and has been involved with the LYIT, USL provincial side and Donegal Schoolboys teams for years.

He’ll be on the bus to Dundalk tomorrow as Harps head to Oriel Park, and he’ll also be going to Cork on October 14th with the USL representative side.

We hope Tommy had a great night!
